Maegan & Chris

February 13, 2012

What’s not to love about Maegan’s and Chris’s home spun, D.I.Y summer wedding at the SteamPlant Event Center?

The couple exchanged their vows on a Saturday in late July in Riverside Park, nestled on the Arkansas River banks and guarded by an arsenal of century-old cottonwood trees.

The wedding party and guests paraded, with chinese yo-yos and balloons, from the ceremony to the couple’s reception at the SteamPlant. The maid-of-honor and best man led the way with a handmade sign touting “Here Comes the Bride,” and pulled the couple’s daughter in a Radio Flyer wagon.  Guests enjoyed drinks and merriment on the outdoor plaza, before turning indoors for dinner, dancing and a beautiful assortment of  homemade treats.

The SteamPlant’s refurbished ballroom, with its century-old brick walls, provided  the perfect canvas for D.Y.I. bride Maegan to decorate with the help of Stephanie of Firefly Designs. The Denver-based party planning service works with brides to make events memorable, unique and yours. Their website is quite inspiring and catalogs  the many Colorado weddings and events they’ve made beautiful. It is worth a look! Our wedding package reserves the venue for 12 hours, which allows our brides ample time to put their personal spin on the space.

Colby Elizabeth Photography captured the intimate ceremony and memorable day. You can explore her blog about the wedding here. Her photography of Maegan and Chris is currently featured on the cover of Rocky Mountain Bride this winter and spring. See her cover photo here. Last, if you would like to have your wedding ceremony or rehearsal dinner in Riverside Park, call the SteamPlant at 719.530.0933. We’ll take care of all of the details.
