Make New Traditions

Shannon and Justin were married on our plaza the last weekend of July. They are recent transplants to Salida from the Denver area. I had the pleasure of helping them through their planning stage, into the rehearsal (the night before) and setting up the day of their wedding. They are a present and loving couple who were so excited to get married.  I marveled at the adventures this last year has held for them. Not only did they get married but they relocated to Salida and bought a new home, found new jobs and planned a truly beautiful wedding for family and friends.

At their rehearsal they had an idea of how they wanted things to go, and to be honest, I loved that they didn’t ask me if this was “how” things should happen.  They just expressed how they wanted it to happen.  It was their wedding and they had artistic license to do whatever made them happy and I love to see that in couples.  I love to see people making their wedding their own.

Enjoy the pictures that follow–just added in new pictures from Phreckles Photography–and remember, you set the rules on your wedding day.  You can have a destination wedding or you can have a wedding in your new destination like Shannon & Justin. And, you can follow traditions or you can make new traditions.  It’s your wedding, make of it what you will! As an event planner/wedding consultant–this is the best advice I can give to you.
