Weddings bring forth a wave of new faces to our charming small town. Here at the SteamPlant, our team of Event Coordinators loves helping our couples and their families navigate the best of Salida while they’re here for their wedding weekend. From recommending the best outdoor adventures to experience, art galleries to visit, and restaurants to try, it’s a give and take on all sides. We feel so grateful to get to know our couples and their communities throughout the weeks of planning. When the wedding finally arrives, it’s a full on celebration.
Katie and Andy came down to Salida from Denver and introduced us to their loving village of friends and family. We have never seen a more intimately intwined group of 100. Katie and Any’s guests were so willing to help the two of them in any way they could. Aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, roommates, groomsmen, bridesmaids – EVERYONE – played a role in setting up the Ballroom, decorating tables, folding napkins, arranging flowers, building their ceremony arbor, you name it. As their Event Coordinators, we worked alongside this incredible group and heard stories of Katie and Andy while we set up and in return, recommended our favorite breakfast spots, walking trails, and late night spots. At the end of the evening this crew sent Katie and Andy off in style and then everyone – EVERYONE – stayed to help collect personal belongings, gifts, food, flowers, the whole bit. It’s important to have a reliable group in charge of collecting your belongings at the end of your wedding celebration, and normally 2-3 people work wonders. But having Katie and Andy’s entire network of loving friends and family stay on-site to be sure the following day would be that much more enjoyable for Katie and Andy without having to track down anything at all from the aftermath of their wedding.. it was inspiring.
To quote the Mother of the Bride in her beautiful toast to Katie and Andy, “You have a village of friends and family who love you, support you, and would do anything for you.” Amen to that.
